LEAKE AUCTION
HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Press Releases
Texas '99 and Tulsa '99 Promise to be THE Collector Car Auctions to Attend

April 1, 1999

Spring Fever has arrived for car collectors and enthusiasts as Leake Auction gets in high gear for two automotive auctions. TEXAS ‘99 is the largest automotive event in Texas with the Leake Collector Car Auction showcasing 350 cars for sale on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, April 30, May 1 & 2 at Texas Motor Speedway. Held in conjunction with Pate Swap Meet, there were over 8,000 booths last year and could be as many as 10,000 booths this year of automotive related items in addition to a car show. Over 100,000 people attend this event which takes place on the infield of the Texas Motor Speedway - quite the backdrop! The Auction starts at 1:00pm on Friday, 10:00am on Saturday and Sunday. Early consignments show some great hot rods and customs, including:

  • 1972 Chevrolet Pickup
  • 1935 Ford Street Rod
  • 1974 Custom Corvette
  • 1955 Chevrolet Custom 2-Door
  • 1936 Ford Street Rod
  • 1953 Chevrolet Pickup
  • 1934 Chevrolet Street Rod
  • 1954 Mercury Custom SunCruiser

The Leake family hosts one of the nation’s premier auctions in Oklahoma with TULSA ‘99 which will feature 600 Collector Cars on June 4, 5 & 6. Enthusiasts from across America and around the world come to Tulsa for this important automotive auction. Owners this year have consigned a large number of very early cars including:

  • 1903 Ford Model A, 2 cylinder Touring Car with Rear Entrance Tonneau. This car has been totally restored and was featured by Ford Motor Co. for their 75th Anniversary. This is a milestone car as this was Henry Ford’s first attempt at manufacturing a car in quantity.
  • 1904 Northern 5 Passenger Touring with rear entrance Tonneau. This car has competed in the prestigious London to Brighton Run 5 times, including the 100th Anniversary Run in 1996. VCC dated.
  • 1907 Model K 6 cylinder Ford Roadster Prototype. This remarkable, completely original, unrestored car, in good running condition, has original upholstery and is believed to be the first of 50 built. This is the only complete original fully optioned roadster known to exist, serial number K107.

Auction spokesman Richard Sevenoaks is most enthusiastic about the current collector car market. "This is a great time for buyers and sellers. The market is strong and interest in collector cars is at an all time high."
