MUSCLE CAR MANIA SWEEPS KRUSE-LEAKE DALLAS COLLECTOR AUCTION AND CAR SHOW
Texas' Largest Collector Car Auction Showcases Hundreds of Vehicles at 29th Annual Dallas Fall Event - November 16-18, 2001
DALLAS, TX (October 16, 2001) - Texans have an affinity for bigger, faster, more powerful motorcars. The 29th annual Kruse-Leake Dallas Collector Car Auction and Show, now the largest collector car auction in the Lone Star State, will feature hundreds of classic, vintage and collectable cars and trucks, with a special emphasis on high-performance, hot rod and Muscle Cars from the 1960s and 1970s.
The three-day auction's Muscle Car lineup includes a host of powerful machines including a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 V8, documented by MOPAR maven Galen Govier for originality, and an impeccable - and rare - Camaro RS SS with detailed underbody. Another unusual find is the 1966 Chevelle SS 396 convertible, fully restored with a new interior, top and tires, as well as its exciting red exterior paint treatment.
There are Mustangs aplenty, including two 1968 Shelby GT500s - one convertible and one coupe, factory correct with just 54,000 miles showing, plus a 1969 Mach I Mustang Fastback, professionally restored with engine updates and a 1969 Mustang Boss 302. For Pontiac Muscle Car fans there's a 1967 Firebird Convertible and a seldom seen 1969 GTO Judge two-door hardtop.
Street rods from High Boy Roadsters to 5-Window and Deluxe Coupes will be offered, including a vintage 1940 Mercury Convertible custom rod with purple exterior and a full house flathead V8. For racing aficionados, the Kruse-Leake Dallas auction has consigned the 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Convertible that paced the Indy 500.
"The Dallas Fall Auction always attracts the biggest and best assortment of vehicles for collectors," says auction organizer Richard Sevenoaks. "Since the beginning of the year, Muscle Cars, customs and rods have been hot - with buyers and sellers - so we've been able to gather a terrific selection for our bidders. Collectors will be hard pressed to match the quality and diversity of this year's crop of vehicles."
The Kruse-Leake Dallas Fall Collector Car Auction will be held at the Dallas Market Hall, located at 2200 Stemmons Freeway. General admission tickets are available for $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Gates open Friday November 16th at 9 a.m. with bidding beginning at 3 p.m. and concluding at 8 p.m. Gates will open at 9 a.m. and bidding will start at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings, November 17 & 18.
