The Tulsa Leake 2006 Auction — "Our Biggest Success Yet"
Tulsa, Oklahoma (June 2006) - The spectacular success of the Leake Collector Car Show and Auction this year came as no surprise to Richard Sevenoaks, the president of Leake Auction Company. “With the sensational outcomes of our sales in recent years, I set the bar even higher for this summer’s auction. I really wanted to see how much we could accomplish, and my expectations were definitely surpassed. This auction was incredible!” said Sevenoaks.
At the end of the auction, a total of 688 consignments ran across the block with total bids of $20.7 million. With 433 items sold, this year’s approach of running two lanes simultaneously on both Friday and Saturday proved to be well received by buyers and sellers alike. The overall sales percentage for the three days was 63%. With buyer’s premiums, final sales totaled over $12.1 million.
There were 13 vehicles which sold for over $100,000. The top three cars included a 1932 Packard Custom Dietrich which sold for $501,000, a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda for $320,000, and a 1969 Shelby GT 500 for $235,000. The 1938 Cadillac once owned by Mae West sold for over $75,000, and the 1900 Milwaukee Steamer Stanhope selling for over $55,000 was the oldest car at our auction.
