Classic, Muscle Cars to Cross Auction Block at Tulsa Collector Car Show & Auction

Tulsa, OK (May 20, 2003)—Leake Auction Company is pleased to present the 31st annual Tulsa Collector Car Show & Auction. This year’s event will again be held at Expo Square, located on the Tulsa State Fairgrounds. The event, scheduled for June 6, 7 and 8, is open to the general public.

Whether you favor brass, classics, muscle cars or exotic sports cars, this event will feature something for every car enthusiast. A sampling of the vehicles that will be offered include:

  • 1970 Dodge Superbee
  • 1967 Shelby GT 350
  • 1957 Chevy Bel Air Resto rod
  • 1999 Shelby Series 1 Roadster
  • 1908 Buick, a great early brass car
  • 1970 Chevelle LS 6 Convertible
  • 1946 Chevrolet Suburban, a rare vehicle
  • 1936 Cord 810 Convertible Coupe

One of the most outstanding automobiles in this year’s auction is the 1938 Packard with Barker Coachwork of London, England, a previous first in class winner at Pebble Beach and Amelia Island. Sunday’s event will feature 14 cars from the collection of Dr. Robert Gibson selling at No Reserve. Included is a 1927 Cadillac Dual Cowl Phaeton, a 1923 Pierce Arrow 7-passenger formal sedan, and a 1938 LaSalle Series 50 Convertible, previously owned by Ginger Rogers.

Kruse International will once again provide the auctioneering for this sale. Kruse is the world’s largest collector car sales organization, featuring over 10,000 cars annually at its sales.

“The collector car market is expanding, and unlike stocks, the price of cars are holding steady or increasing. Cars are something you can touch and see, unlike stocks and bonds. That’s why collector cars have become so popular with investors,” said Dean Kruse, founder and CEO of Kruse International. “The collector car market is an oasis in a sea of economic uncertainty. Tulsa is poised for one of its best auctions ever,” said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction Company.

The Tulsa Car Show & Auction will kick off at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 6th and will continue on Saturday and Sunday at 10 am. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Leake Auction and Merrill Lynch will host a party from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, to benefit the American Red Cross.

Consignments are still being accepted for the Tulsa auction. For more information on the event, call Leake at (800) 722-9942 or Kruse International at (800) 968-4444.
