ELEGANT CLASSICS AND HIGH PERFORMANCE EXOTICS FILL 11 ACRES AT LARGEST ALL-INDOOR COLLECTOR CAR AUCTION IN AMERICA
30th Annual Leake Collector Car Auction To Feature Nearly 600 Vehicles Under One Roof – June 7-9, 2002
TULSA, Okla. (May 2, 2002) – Leake Auction Company and Kruse International, an eBay company, join forces for the largest all-indoor auction in the United States at the 30th Annual Tulsa Car Auction. Nearly 600 cars from elegant classics to modern high-performance exotics will cover Expo Square at the Tulsa Fairgrounds for the three-day event, June 7-9, 2002.
“Mopar, Shelby and horsepower are the watchwords this year,” says Richard Sevenoaks, auction organizer. “We have a remarkable blending of elegant pre-WWII classics, including special coach-built examples, vehicles with celebrity ownership or unique provenance, and some of the hottest high-horsepower cars from the ‘60s and ‘70s.”
Some of the auction’s outstanding offerings include:
- The 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud sedan originally owned by the Dewars Scotch family and then purchased by British film star Lawrence Harvey, whose monogram still appears on each of the car’s rear doors.
- The 1939 Rolls-Royce with custom coachwork by H.J. Mulliner, specially constructed for the London and Paris Motor Show. With a concealed top, it is truly one-of-a-kind.
- A 1928 Marmon Series 78 Speedster with rumble seat, which paced the 1929 Indy 500
- One of the finest 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Four-Door Convertibles remaining (only 19 are currently known).
- The most sought-after Shelby of late – a GT 500 KR Convertible with a 428 CI “Cobra
- Jet” V8, this car has undergone a complete restoration by a noted Shelby restorer.
- 1970 Dodge Challenger – the only O.E. Gold Challenger in the world with matching numbers and only 9 miles on the most correct restoration of a Hemi Challenger.
Held entirely indoors at Expo Square on the Tulsa State Fairgrounds (located at 4145 East 21st Street in Tulsa), daily general admission tickets for the Tulsa Collector Car Auction are $10 for adults and $5 for children. The auction begins Friday at 12:00 Noon, with Saturday and Sunday bidding starting at 10:00 a.m.
