33rd Annual Leake Car Show & Auction Coming in June 2005
TULSA, Okla. (April 20, 2005) 600 classic cars are already being lined up for sale at the 2005 Leake Collector Automobile Auction at Expo Square in Tulsa, OK June 10, 11 and 12.
“Last year’s magnificent sale with the Mac McGlumphy auto collection has spirited excellent early consignments for our upcoming 33rd Annual Auction,” says Leake Auction Company President Richard Sevenoaks, “many of the automobiles consigned to this year’s auction indicate we are looking at another banner year, and we have several estate collections selling at no reserve.”
It is a year with a little intriguing mystery for auto buffs. One 1932 Ford Model 18 6-Wheel Roadster, recently refurbished in Sweden for Ford’s 100th anniversary celebration in Europe, was part of the Ford Family Collection and was suggested by Ford heir Edsel Ford III to have been one personally owned by his grandfather, Henry. The car even has Ford's original tool satchel with complete set of tools.
Ford Thunderbird enthusiasts will be delighted to find 1955, 1956 and 1957 models, all considered to be among the finest Thunderbirds ever produced, offered for sale by Amos Minter at no reserve.
The 1930s will be well represented as always. A 1930 Packard and a 1930 DeSoto will be accompanied by a 1931 Cadillac and a 1931 Pierce Arrow. Alas, of the four companies named only Cadillac has survived to the present day but the legends of yesteryear will still be available at the Leake Auction.
A later survivor of the decade, a 1937 Cord, will also be offered. So will a bus with a historical connection to the great Johnny Cash. Cars are still being accepted for sale. Commission rates for cars sold with a reserve are 8 percent and no-reserve cars are 6 percent.
