Excitement Brews for the Oklahoma City 2005 Auction
Oklahoma City, Okla. (February 11, 2005) The 2005 Oklahoma City Collector Car Show and Auction is about to begin and Leake Auction Company President Richard Sevenoaks says he has rarely been so excited.
The auction will take place Friday and Saturday February 25-26 on the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds in the Travel & Transportation Building. Some 350 autos are expected to be offered at the two-day auto extravaganza.
“Early auctions in other markets this year have shown that enthusiasm for collector autos has rarely been stronger,” Sevenoaks said. “The burgeoning market for street rods and customs just never seems to decline. The enthusiasm at the early auctions for these cars was enormous and there is no reason to believe it will lessen throughout the year.”
Leake Auction, which co-heads the Oklahoma City auction with Dean Kruse of Kruse International is delighted with some of the items consigned to the auction.
“We have a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 two-door with a 426 Hemi engine, four speed transmission, blue/black bucket seats and a broadcast sheet. A 1970 Plymouth AAR Barracuda show car comes with a 340 horsepower V-8 engine. A 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS Sport Coupe is equipped with a Turbo Fire 409 HP V-8 engine and a four-speed transmission.”
“For those who like a car with a little more history we have a 1941 Willys Street Rod coupe with a body by Dennis Taylor. This has the best of everything with a 368 CI V-8 engine, performance aluminum heads, air, remote doors, Connally leather, wool rugs, JVC 12-disc changer, power windows, power four-wheel disc brakes and a digital dash. It’s a terrific car. We already have an outstanding collection of cars to sell,” says Sevenoaks, “but we can always use more.”
Those interested in consigning cars to the auction still have time, but it is growing short. They should contact Leake Auction Company at 800-722-9942 or 918-254-7077, or visit the website at www.leakecar.com.
The show is open to the public. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
