Classic Chevrolets the Big Draw at 19th Annual Oklahoma City Collector Car Auction & Show
Oklahoma City, Okla. (February 28, 2003) —Classic Chevrolets were the big winner at this year’s Oklahoma City Collector Car Auction & Show, held February 22nd and 23rd.
“The Oklahoma City collector car market is alive and well. Buyers came from throughout the Midwest and bought everything within sight, especially the high-end muscle cars,” said Richard Sevenoaks, President of Leake Auction Company. Leake and Kruse International were co-sponsors of the event.
With the auctioneers of Kruse International calling out the bids, car after car crossed the auction block. Five of the top ten highest sales were Chevrolets, and included:
- 1941 Willy two-door coupe that sold for $39,250;
- 1958 Chevrolet Impala two-door hardtop that sold for $35,000;
- 1971 Dodge Superbee two-door hardtop that sold for $33,750;
- 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS coupe that sold for $33,500;
- 1966 Chevrolet Corvette two-door that sold for $30,500;
- 1953 Buick Special street rod that sold for $29,500;
- 1969 Ford Mustang Mach I that sold for $28,250;
- 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSI Berlinetta that sold for $28,000;
- 1969 Chevrolet Camaro hardtop that sold for $26,000;
- 1958 Chevrolet Impala two-door hardtop that sold for $25,500.
“When Kruse International and Leake Auction Company team up for an event, the result is always an incredible, fast-paced event. This one was no different. On Friday we sold 75 percent of that day’s consigned vehicles. The average is 64 percent. I can’t wait to come back to Oklahoma City for next year’s event,” said Dean Kruse, founder and CEO of Kruse International.
Kruse International is the world’s largest collector car sales organization, featuring over 10,000 cars annually at its events.
“Judging by the great results at the Oklahoma City event, the Tulsa sale in June should be a barn burner,” Sevenoaks said.
