1941 Willys Custom Street Rod Headlines Car Show & Auction
The Kruse-Leake Auction will be held November 21-23 at Dallas Market Hall
DALLAS, TX (October 13, 2008) - The 36th Annual Kruse-Leake Collector Car Show and Auction will take place at Dallas Market Hall November 21-23. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Doors open on Friday at 10am and the auction will begin at 1pm. Doors open at 9am on Saturday and Sunday and the auctions will begin at 10am.
This year's event will feature over 600 cars. Cadillacs, Corvettes, Camaros, Shelbys, Thunderbirds, Pontiacs, Mopars and other vintage, collector, muscle and specialty cars will be auctioned in two auction rings.
"The Kruse-Leake Auction in Dallas has grown since its inception 36 years ago. Despite the economic unrest, the collector car market is booming. We have seen tremendous growth in our auction's over the past several years. We attribute this to an excellent selection of cars, and a very strong regional economy," said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction Company.
Unique to this year's auction will be an extraordinary 1941 Willys Custom Street Rod. This hot rod features a fiberglass body, patterned off of the Original Steel Car. It features a 540 CU. F.I. engine and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The glass body was widened to fully cover the 20x8 front wheels and the 24x10 inch rear wheels. Featuring alligator leather seats, the interior of this vehicle is truly one of a kind. The electronic dash was custom made. The top is a removable Viper styled hardtop.
An interesting addition to this year's auction will be a 1915 Van Blerck 17 Litre Roadster. The Roadster is a staggering 7 feet tall and boasts a 13 and a half foot wheel base and is nearly 18 feet long. Due to its engine size, the Van Blerck only seats two people. It has a six-cylinder, T-head engine that displaces 17 litres and produces 200 horsepower. Each of the combustion chambers requires three spark plugs to ignite all of the fuel and air it digests with each stroke. The sheer size and sound of the Van Blerck attracts a crowd wherever it travels.
The auction will also feature a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertible. One of only 99 ever produced, the convertible has power steering, bucket seats, cruise control and air suspension. With an red exterior and white interior, the convertible boasts a Tri-Power 390 V-8 engine. "The 1950's convertibles have been a hot area for investors and collectors," says Sevenoaks. "Many of them are now selling upwards up $200,000."
The 1969 Camaro RS/SS Indy Pace car is one of the most collectible Camaros. This Z-11 Pace Car is one of 3,600 produced, making it a great investment due to its popularity. The Camaro features a 300 horsepower 350 V-8 engine with a 4-speed transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes and 15 inch rally wheels.
